RTK auto-steering correction for less than £10,000, is the claim from Soilessentials for the mojoRTK package that it’s distributing on behalf of Swiss firm Leica Geosystems. Launched at Cereals 2008, the kit includes a tripod-mounted mobile base station, combined control console/radio – this unit fits into the tractor cab’s standard radio slot – antenna and cables, and hooks either straight up to an auto-steer ready tractor or into a system such as Trimble’s EZ-Steer. ‘Line of sight’ range is reckoned to be 4-6km, and there is no on-going subscription fee. Auto-steering accuracy is put at 5cm for 99% of the time.
