Between the Gironde estuary and the Atlantic Ocean, north of Bordeaux, there is an area with peaty soils where last season maize was planted. After heavy storms and persistent rainfall, the farmer and operator of a biogas plant stood in the mud facing the lodged crop of maize. What to do? Regular forage harvesters had little hope so it was time to call upon some specialist assistance.
