Can a two-row tine cultivator compete with a three-row machine? What is the minimum working depth while still moving all of the ground? Can a 140hp tractor handle a 3.0m machine for deeper soil loosening? We answer these and several other questions with our Unia cultivator comparison

Several tillage kit makers offer fully mounted, 3.0m tine cultivators for working stubbles shallow and deep. But what are the pros and cons of having those tines spread across two or three rows. Polish company Unia produces both two- and three-row designs, so we compared the pair doing a primary pass on oilseed rape and wheat stubble, working from just a few centimetres deep with a winged foot … to a depth of over 30cm with a narrow point.
