French cultivator and mechanical hoe manufacturer Carré has filed for judicial protection with the French authorities.

This step was taken in response to a decline in order volumes since 2023 and is part of a restructuring procedure aimed at ensuring the company’s continuity.

The judicial protection – which, under French law, must be publicly disclosed – allows Carré SAS to develop a robust future plan under court supervision and with the involvement of investors. Keith Rennie Machinery (KRM), the company’s UK importer, stresses that day-to-day operations remain fully active, and that production, parts supply, and service continue without interruption.

Over the past years, Carré SAS has made significant investments in product development, digitalization, and modernization. These efforts form the foundation for a refinancing plan that is already in an advanced stage. Local investors have confirmed their commitment, reinforcing confidence in a successful relaunch.

KRM managing director Mike Britton emphasizes that these developments have no impact on customers in the UK, and that all current orders and service operations are being handled as usual.

“We understand that the term ‘judicial protection’ may raise questions,” he adds, “but would like to stress that this is not a bankruptcy. It is a temporary legal arrangement specifically designed to give Carré SAS the space to emerge stronger from this period. We have full confidence in the direction Carré has taken and continue to stand behind the quality, delivery, and service our customers have come to expect.”

In 2023, Carré SAS posted a turnover of €19.1 million.
