Less labour, less compaction, less fuel, more time efficient – these are some of things Krone mentioned when unveiling its Swadro BaleTrain TC880 Pro which was pulling the new ComPack Pro baler-wrapper behind it. Complete with tractor, the raking, baling, wrapper outfit measures less than 18.75m and the two implements can be unhitched if you want to use them separately.

The twin rotor rake gains a new double drive gearbox at the front with low/high speed for setting the rpm on the rake as the fixed 540 pto speed is needed for the baler, or the rake rotors can be disengaged when not needed.

At the rear, there is a beefed-up frame with the hitch, hydraulics, pto and electrics needed to power the baler. The complete outfit is controlled using ISObus with the rotors automatically lifting when the binding system applies the net or film to the bale. It also monitors the bale filling, steering the rake to ensure the chamber is evenly filled on the left- and right-hand sides. And because the row doesn’t need to be narrowed to fit between tractor wheels, the raked swath can be left wide enough to evenly fill the baler’s pick-up.

Replacing the Comprima Plus, is the ComPack Pro (F150 XC and V150 XC) slatted chamber balers producing a ‘semi-variable’ 1.25-1.50m and variable 1.00-1.50m diameter bale. These also come as CF and CV wrapper combi models – it was a CV150 XC Pro fitted to the BaleTrain.

These continue with the NovoGrip belt mounted slat system for the bale chamber. Feeding this is a camless pick-up and Hardox rotor. Chopping wise, you can have 17 or 26 knife variants with the ability to set the number of engaged blades from the cab. This can be done through the new ISObus interface which is said to be more intuitive. You can also connect up to seven higher resolution digital cameras to the CCI800 or 1200 display.

Krone has also developed an integrated additive applicator with a pair of 120-litre tanks. The rate can be controlled by time, weight, per bale or manually.
