Up until now, the Condor has only been offered in widths of 12m and 15m, but Amazone is adding 8.0m and 9.0m versions.
These newcomers will have the choice of a closer 20cm row spacing alongside the existing 25cm layout. They still use the ConTec Pro tine coulter with V-Press depth wheels which are spread across three rows. There is a new hydraulic coulter pressure system for improved contour following.
The 4,100-litre pressurised hopper is split three ways (50:30:20) allowing it to handle various seed and fertiliser combinations. The Condor 02 is one of a number of Amazone drills to get the new MultiSwtich distribution head which has the ability to control the flow of material to each coulter reducing overlapping at headlands and other wedge-shaped areas of a field.
Indeed, Amazone reckons that by reducing seed and fert costing €150/ha overlaps from a typical 5% to 1% on 1,000ha would save €6,000. MultiSwitch can also be used to switch off individual rows when you want a wider row spacing for crops such as oilseed rape.
