Agritechnica was a chance for Hardi to show its next generation of self-propelled sprayer, the Arex, which will go on sale from mid-2026 before production starts in 2027.

A marked different with the firm’s previous European self-propelled, is that it has the cab up front, tank in the middle and the engine sits in between the boom carrying linkage. On the 6,000-litre model on show, this results in 10t per axle. Christoph Schulze Stentrop points out that getting the weight balance has been an important part of developing the new self-propelled which will also be available as a 5,000-litre machine.

The cab is sourced from Claas but the Arex uses Hardi’s own SmartCom operating system which can be used to control PWM and GeoSelect spot spraying technology. A new air system is coming but there will also be aluminium booms on offer.

The 310hp Cummins engine sits between the boom carrying linkage. Christoph points out that as well as aiding weight balance, this new location for the engine will also reduce noise in the cab. Hardi has also switched from Poclain to Bosch Rexroth for the hydrostatic drive system. It also plans on developing a high-clearance version which will clear up to 1.65m tall crops.
