Battery powered handler maker Mona was back at Agritechnica with an expanded line up. Sitting alongside its refreshed yard loaders was a new prototype rigid chassis telehandler and standalone battery packs.

The Nova has a 53kWh lithium ion battery pack in the 2,700kg, 6.36m handler. The battery should provide enough power for up to four hours of continuous use under load from the 54kW electric motor.

Based in the south of Germany, the company says it has strived to use high end components such as the Elobau joystick. The machines also contain telematics with remote monitoring via an app.

Using its electrics knowledge, the firm was also showing two of its battery systems which can be used for storing electricity from a PV system or directly charged from the gird which can also be used to provide emergency power. The Mona Island is more for more domestic applications, its modular construction of 10 batteries can be combined for a total of up to 60kWh which costs €18,000. But for farm applications, it was showing the bigger 233kWh unit which has a price tag of €55,000.

Mona’s sister companies include a machinery dealership which along with New Holland also includes GEA dairy equipment. It says the 233kWh battery pack should be sufficient for powering a typical dairy farm in its home area of southern Germany for two days. Like the handlers, an app is used to control the battery packs.
