Sky Agriculture has developed a new app to work alongside its equally new trailed spreader that offers a quick change from fertiliser to lime.
The Fertieye app uses the phone’s camera to scan a sample of the fertiliser, ignoring any doubles, and in 30 seconds sends the results to the spreader control box. The software is able to determine the granular diameter, angularity and size distribution, information it can then use to calculate the ballistic characteristics of the fertiliser and overcome setting errors.

For now, the technology only works with Sky’s new Falcon T-series trailed spreaders of which there are four models, the 100, 130, 160 and 240. Key features include dynamic weighting and ISObus controls. They are also equipped with a new generation of spreading system, and on these trailed models that can be converted in around seven minutes without tools from fertiliser to lime work.
Software is used to control the dosing system which has brushless electric motors. Max spread width is up to 52m.

Also on the Sky Agriculture stand at Agritechnica was the shallow working Methys PCS ultra shallow cultivator which uses a wide point to cleave the root as a means of mechanical plant control.
