Alamo will be introducing the Mantis self-propelled hedge cutter in Europe next year. Made in Texas, it has not been confirmed which Alamo business (it owns Bomford, McConnel, Spearhead and Twose to name but a few) will handle sales in our market.

The machine on show is the second generation of Mantis self-propelled which is looking to take on the Italian made Energreen and will be similar in price we are told. The tool carrier is powered by a 200hp Deutz and has front and rear ptos for driving additional equipment. The transmission is a hydrostatic unit.

The arm is said to reach 9.0m from the middle of the axle to the outer end of the 1.6m head. The flail head is one of the things which will be changed as the machine is readied for European homologation. To give a better view of the business end, the cab can swivel 90 degrees to the left and right.
