While primarily designed for establishing and reseeding grassland, the Smart 400 (4m) universal pneumatic seed drill from SMS Agro can also sow most common crops.
Aimed at small and medium-sized farms seeking a compact and versatile drill, the Smart is said to provide reliable operation even in challenging conditions on heavy and stony soils.
Spaced at 12.5cm, two rows of 410mm diameter x 5mm thick discs cut the seed slot. Seed administered via carbide tipped coulters, and the semi-mounted drill is available in hopper capacities from 300 to 800 litres.
Operating at speeds of up to 12km/hr, maximum working depth is 10cm and the 4.4t drill has a minimum power requirement of 120hp. The hydraulically folding frame reduces the transport width to 2.6m.
