Weichai Lovol reckons to account for 30% of the approx. 370,000 new tractors sold in China in 2025. Now it is pinning its hopes on new Stage V tractor ranges to grow its European business.
The second generation 240hp P7240 on the stand at Agritechnica is nearly finished. Previewed as a prototype at the same German show in 2023, the tractor spent the last two years in tests in Poland. Powered by a 7.8-litre six-cylinder Weichai engine mated to an in-house developed CVT, it is now ready for the homologation process.
Expected to be one of the most popular Lovol tractors in Europe, the first P7240 could be in the UK by the summer, and the plan is to have it in European price lists by the end of 2026 when it will be available through UK and Irish dealers.
The P7240 will be built at a newly opened plant capable of producing one new tractor every four minutes and in excess of 100,000 units a year! Costing an estimated US$420 million and covering a total surface area of around 52ha at Weifang (Shandong), many of the tractors built inside the new 170,000m² assembly building will exceed 100hp, but the plant will make a full range of CVT and powershift models from 50 to 500hp for both domestic and export markets.
340hp Lovol tractor in production
The 340hp P8340 was the first tractor to leave the new assembly line. Currently only available in China, the 9.5-litre Stage IIIa six-cylinder Weichai block is paired with a CVT. Top speed of the 13.7t tractor is 40km/hr and the standard spec includes a suspended seat and cab.
A 1:32 scale model of the P8340 was at Agritechnica two years ago. The same model was back again at Agritechnica 2025 and despite it being in the brochure, there is still no sign of the real tractor in Europe.
It has to be right for the European market, and the company continues to test a Stage V version in numerous countries, is the message. It could be another three years before we see it.

Top speed of the 18f+9r power shuttle in the 10.8t TN3004 is 40km/hr. Lift capacity of the electronically controlled rear linkage is 6.5t.
The TN3004 on the stand is another tractor that is not yet available in Europe. The TN Series, which also comprises the 260hp TN2604, is currently the most powerful blue Lovol tractor in production, the 9.5-litre Weichai six-cylinder Stage IIIa block in the range topper developing 300hp. The plan is to plant a Stage V motor in it by the middle of 2026.
At the lower end of the Lovol power scale are the P1025 (25hp) and P2040 (40hp). Two more mainstream Stage V tractor ranges available in the UK and Ireland are the four-cylinder P4000 and P5000.
The P4000 Series comprises three Doosan powered models; the P4090 (90hp), P4100 (100hp), P4110 (116hp), and the most popular model in the range in the UK and Europe). Plus, there are the Weichai powered P4110 (123hp) and P4130 (150hp). The P4110, complete with Lovol loader, GPS and autosteer, retails for around £47,500.

The P5130 (130hp) is the most popular of the two P5000 Series tractors available in the UK and Ireland.
The Doosan powered P5130 (130hp) is one of two P5000 Series models. With a 45f x 15r three-speed semi powershift, costs around £52,000. The second model is the P5140 where a boost increases the rated output from the Weichai engine of 150hp to 168hp. Rear lift capacity of both tractors is 3t and the 5140 has both cab and front axle suspension.
Dealer network taking shape
General manager Sun Deming of Lovol’s overseas marketing says that Europe, where a few hundred dealers have taken on the franchise, is taking shape.

Lovol also had the 25hp E1000 fully electric prototype on the stand. Expected to be available by the next Agritechnica in 2027, the 27kWh lithium-ion is said to support six hours of continuous heavy-load operation.
In the UK, Severn Farm Machinery at Pontesbury near Shrewsbury is the area importer for the Midlands. Aberdeenshire-based Marrs of Methlick took on the Lovol franchise for Scotland in August 2025. Alexander Tractors cover Northern Ireland while Kevin Brogan Tractors covers Co. Roscommon.
“We are looking for 3-4 more area importers in the UK – one in northern England, another in the south and one in the middle of the country,” comments UK and Ireland sales and marketing manager Gerry Rabbitte. “We will have an importer in place to cover 20 counties in southern England early 2026 including Devon and Cornwall.”
All regional importers are expected to stock basic spare parts. The precise location has yet to be announced, but Lovol will open a new European spare parts hub in Belgium in January. Providing a part is ordered before 3pm then it will be delivered before 3pm the next day.
Something else about to kick off is a service and training scheme for Lovol dealers in the UK and Ireland. The underlying message is clear. Lovol’s European tractor ranges are taking shape, the number of dealers is increasing, and the Chinese company is investing in its production sites, dealer training and parts availability.
“The 25-340hp bracket is the most important for us now, but this will rise to 500hp in the future,” adds Mr Deming. It was not up for discussion at Agritechnica, but the Chinese manufacturer has developed the P9000, its first articulated tractor.

“The European market is very important for us,” comments Lovol general manager Sun Deming of overseas marketing.
We do not know the size of the six-pot Weichai-Lovol block in this tractor, but it is widely rumoured that it peaks at 450hp, and a CVT is believed to be one of two transmission options. Less is known about the four-tracked version in development, although this is believed to peak at around 500hp. It is not yet known when the first P9000s will leave the new production line.

Lovol also showed the GM100 combine. The 3.8m cutterbar and 2,800-litre grain tank is too small for Europe, but it could be that the Chinese manufacturer was gauging visitor interest for its other combines, which peak with the GS8180 (9m header/14,500-litre grain tank).
Lovol does not just make tractors. Its wide-ranging portfolio also includes combines, round and square balers, planters, seed drills, ploughs, cultivators, and even a self-propelled mower. It is not known if the Chinese company has any plans to bring any of them in Europe.
Main picture: Expected to be available by the end of 2026 the 240hp P7240 will be the most powerful Lovol Stage V tractor so far in the UK and Ireland.
