You’d think that Zetor customers would have welcomed the introduction of an electrohydraulic powershuttle. That’s not the case, however, as most buyers have stuck with the simpler Proxima and Proxima Plus models, which make do with a simple mechanical direction change. Intrigued, we decided to put the powershuttle, three-step semipowershift Proxima Power 110 through our tractor test.
IWe’re back with Zetor for this month’s tractor test and focusing on the 74kW/100hp (ECE R24) Proxima Power 110. The four-potter sports all of the Zetor transmission trimmings with an electro hydraulic powershuttle and automatic semipowershift 24F/24R box. As far as Proxima spec goes, this is as good as it gets.
Our 2012 tractor has Zetor’s own 4.2-litre Stage IIIA motor with inline injection, and this is soon to be treated to a diesel particulate filter system — the same technology that debuted on the Forterra HSX to tick the box for Stage IIIB as of January. But back to what we have here and now. There are four models in the Proxima Power line-up, which spans 64kW/87hp to 86kW/117hp (2000/25 standard), and the tested 110 tractor slots in below the 120 flagship.
Time to see what the Zetor motor could muster on the DLG dyno. With the engine barking at 2,200rpm, the driveline was able to transfer 69.6kW/93.3hp of the quoted 74.0kW/99.2hp to the pto shaft. As the engine revs pulled back to 1,800rpm, maximum output reached 72.1kW/96.7hp. These stats, combined with an excellent 44% torque rise and 25% constant power range, resulted in the engine receiving a test thumbs-up for its output characteristics.
Drawbar power proved not quite so impressive, with the powershift transmission soaking up much of the available grunt. The end result is that only 55.4kW/74.2hp made it through to the wheels at rated power and 59.3kW/79.5hp at maximum speed, both of which are no better than average results. Fuel consumption was 334g/kWh at rated speed, and this pushes the Zetor more than 8% above the average consumption in this bracket.
