Zetor has revamped the upper end of its range, Forterra 90hp+ tractors, and introduced its first sixcylinder flagship model for some years to the top of the line. Martin Rickatson drives the 120hp 11741 tractor at importer Motokov’s Norfolk base
Not since the days of its Crystal range, phased out more than ten years ago, has Zetor had a presence in the 110hp+ six-cyl bracket. With average new tractor hp in the UK last year around the 117hp mark, this is now mass-market territory, and while Zetor’s main speciality has traditionally been 70-80hp 4WD ‘livestock’ tractors, a new flagship has been overdue to take forward the manufacturer’s redesigned look and claimed higher build quality into the UK arable/mixed farm economy tractor sector.
So, step forward the new head of the Zetor fleet, the six-cyl 120hp 11741. The top model in a revamped Forterra range which now includes the 9641 (92hp), 10641 (103hp) and 11441 (110hp), the 11741, unlike its smaller brethren, isn’t fitted with a ‘homegrown’ motor. Zetor doesn’t currently build six-pot engines of its own, so Same provides the power for the firm’s new flagship.
