Driving impression: MX Technic T loader It’s hard to make an implement as seemingly simple as the front-end loader seem ‘sexy’, but Chillton’s latest introduction from its French partner MX – formerly Mailleux – has been restyled and redecorated to bring curves to this market sector

While the telescopic handler has become the tool of choice for lifting and loading on many UK arable and livestock units over the past 20 years, that’s not been at the cost of the fore-end loader, it would appear. AEA loader sales figures for tractors of 40hp+ show that the 2005 market, at 3,700 units, was more than 300 up on the 1990 total, with an average in recent times of 3,500 units.

Although loader sales stats by make are not published, Staffs firm Chillton, which imports the French MX brand, formerly known as Mailleux, reckons to be holding firmly to the number two sales spot. Its last major product update was the launch of the original Technic range back in 1998, which has since sold 5,000 units, but that line is now thoroughly revise
