Lincs sprayer specialist Chafer is going all out forthe upper end of the arable farm and contractormarket with its new self-propelled range-topper,the Rogator. Martin Rickatson climbs aboard tofind out if its fusion of UK, US and Europeanengineering could win over the big sprayer boys
Giving a machine line-up the ‘corporate look’, from base model to flagship, seems to be a growing trend in farm equipment. Tractors are a case in point; from high-hp arable movers to sub-100hp midrangers, many makers now confer on their complete line-ups a strand of common ‘DNA’, with similar styling and look-alike features.
Chafer’s new self-propelled sprayer flagship, though, is quite a different beast to its current brethren, the Mistral and Mirage. The Rogator supersedes the Mistral unit, and looks as though it’s from a different stable to its sleeklycabbed predecessor. Yet Chafer says the Rogator face will soon find its way onto the rest of its range; the Mirage MKII, launched in May, will also have the new look.
