Anyone interested in a fixed chamber baler with a roller system can’t ignore Welger. The company has a lot of experience and holds a number of important patents. Although the latest models may offer higher specifications, second hand RP 12 and RP 12 S balers, which make 1.2m diameter bales, are not confined to the scrap heap just yet
In fixed chamber balers the bale is compacted from outside inwards as more material is fed into the chamber. This makes the core of the bale softer than the outer layers and allows moisture to evaporate. This is particularly appreciated by those making hay. Consequently manufacturers of variable chamber balers, which make bales of a consistent density, offer optional soft core kits. Looking for a used fixed chamber round baler, we found a twelveyear-old Welger RP 12 model. A machine on this age may have produced umpteen thousand bales so you should inspect it carefully. In comparison with the 1983 model our next baler, a six year old RP 12 S, was in good condition and young for its age. With all machines, one of the first and most important questions when buying second hand is: was it used by a contractor? As well as the general condition there are a number of other ways to tell whether the machine has been used by a farmer or contractor.
