Lemken’s hydraulic-folding models are the first to make the move from Zirkon 10 to 12, with the rigid models gaining the features later this year. More than just a change in digits, the new models are capable of handling more power, a larger packer option and beefed-up tines more suited to high stone content soils.

Lemken has always offered two ranges of power harrows; one for lower horsepower tractors on kinder soils, whereas the heavier duty line-up is for those throwing more ponies at the job of dealing with tougher conditions. Until last summer, the Zirkon 8 range was suitable for tractors up to 175hp and Zirkon 10 went up to 320hp. While the Zirkon 8 remains unchanged the Zirkon 10 is being phased out by the 12, which among other things has been upgraded to meet the ever increasing amount of horsepower available on farms; it’s now good for 408hp

To keep its new power harrow range competitive, Lemken has stripped off some of the standard features found on the 10 and added them to the options list of the 12. These include items such as the mechanical two-speed gearbox and quick-fit tines. As a result a base specification 6.0m Zirkon 12 is about £4,089 less than a 10. At the same time and despite the higher power approval, the price increases by only £1,082 when both models are the same spec.

The Zirkon 12 range consists of rigid and foldable (K) models and a foldable/trailed (KA) machine. There’s a total of 12 models: four rigid between 3.0m and 4.5m; and foldable mounted and foldable trailed units up to 6.0m — see data sheet. The rotor spacing is 250mm on all machines
