Lemken introduced its DL plough range into the UK in 1979, with all models except the DL110 having gradually been superseded by the current Europlough range from 1994 on. If the potential age of these ploughs as a used buy puts you off, however, think again. The DL series was well engineered and can make a sound used buy.

The DL plough was built in seven main models, the DL080 to DL180. Each was offered with two choices of inter-body and under beam clearance – more of which later. All DL ploughs are built to the same basic design, so the following comments can be applied to all variations on the basic DL theme. DLV hydraulic variable width ploughs are not covered specifically. These adjust to give furrow widths from 12in to 20in.

Standard DL plough furrow widths can be adjusted up or down 2in by inserting a spacer between the plough leg and body.

Frame and turnover mechanism: The main difference between DL models lies in the size and strength of the beam and the diameter of the turnover shaft. It is not unusual to find an extra body has been added to any DL plough to increase its size. If a single extension has been added, this is not normally a problem. But two extra bodies may have been added, which is not a good idea.
