Driving impression: Pöttinger Terrasem C6 cultivator drill The Terrasem C is the first of a new breed of wide cultivator drills from Pöttinger. But it’s not all about size: currently available in widths of 6m and 8m, with a 9m version coming in the autumn, the Terrasem C drilling system has also shuffled down the Austrian firm’s lines on to 3m and 4m models. Here we focus on the increasingly popular 6m sector – and the Terrasem C6

Pöttinger first dipped its toe into the cultivator drill market way back in 2004 with its 3m and 4m Terrasem 3000 and 4000 units. More recently these machines have been joined by the wider C6 and C8 models, which only arrived on UK shores last year.

A new coulter arrangement was developed to cope with the increased working widths of the big drills, and this design has since been adopted by the latest generation of 3m and 4m models. So that’s the potted history. Now let’s focus on C6, – an example of the new breed.

Like so many of its competitors, the Terrasem follows the familiar cultivator-drill layout of discs, tyre press and coulters. Yet if you look a little closer, you’ll discover that Pöttinger has come up with some interesting features of its own.
