The Amazone Cirrus range of cultivator drills is now joined by the 8.0m 8004-2C Grand. Slotting between the 6.0m and 9.0m version, the latter also benefits from the same new features.
These include the 5,900-litre hopper which is pressurised and can be split 40:50:10 to handle a wider range of seeds, fertiliser and slug pellets. This is a single shoot setup to the to the coulters (12.5 or 16.6cm spacing).
Outer depth control wheels and a leading levelling board are on the options list as does an air pre heater. As well as being able to shut-off individual rows, the new Cirrus distributor can do a nifty anti-soil erosion thing called EasyTram.
This doesn’t just allow you to place the tramline irrespective of the drills width, you don’t even have to drill the field in the same direction. A sensor in one of the hose lines calculates the time it takes the seed to travel from the distributor to the coulter, the job computer can then precisely, momentarily pause the seed flow to create the tramline.
So you sow the field in the best way to prevent run off, but then place the tramlines in the most efficient way for applications. Pre-loaded maps will also allow you to set the tramlines to avoid unnecessary boom folds to avoid hitting trees and poles.
