Amazone has added mechanical weeding hoes made by fellow German firm Schmotzer to its growing range of products.

Effective from January 1, 2019, the hoes will continue to be made at Bad Windsheim, and all staff will remain within the newly founded company called Schmotzer Hacktechnik, which will become part of the Amazone Group.

Schmotzer Hacktechnik will carry out all sales and service activities as before and the implements will continue to be sold with the Schmotzer name.

Amazone directors Christian and Justus Dreyer describe the addition of hoeing equipment to the portfolio as an important step. “We see a huge global potential for the technology in integrated plant production and want to become an innovation leader.”

Schmotzer has built mechanical weeding hoes since 1922, and managing partner Ferdinand Wahl will continue to have an active role in the new company.
