Since previewing its autonomous cabless Magnum tractor concept at the 2016 Farm Progress show in the US, and at 2017 SIMA in Europe, Case IH has been talking with potential customers about its future options.

Ready to take the concept to the next stage, the firm has begun a project with Bolthouse Farms, one of the US’s largest carrot producers. This time the work is not with a cabless Magnum but with a small fleet of Quadtracs. It’s a grainy picture but we can make out an operator in the cab of the lead tractor, which would suggest supervised autonomy using the master and slave concept. The initial focus is on lugging primary cultivation kit, whereas the next stage could be on secondary cultivators and planters.
