A teaser video of the most powerful Claas Jaguar self-propelled forage harvester so far is currently running on the company’s UK website.

Claas will soon join Krone and John Deere in the 1,000hp league, although all the Jaguar manufacturer is saying ahead of the big reveal next week is that the new range-topper has a larger crop flow channel and is fitted with the best and most comfortable Claas cab ever built.

Images of the prototype have surfaced on numerous online platforms in the past few years, some badged as a 990, another without a model number and more recently as the 1200. It could be a hoax, but a picture of a serial plate stamped with Jaguar 1200 is also doing the rounds.

There are pictures of it working in grass, and others in maize with what looks like a 16-row Orbis header (widest currently available devours 12 rows at a time). The wider working width of possibly 12m could explain the longer discharge chute, which some say stretches to 9.0m!

The 12-cylinder engine in the current top model in the Jaguar 900 series already delivers 925hp, and some online platforms suggest that the 24-litre MAN V12 in the 1000 series (could there be more than one model?) develops from 1,110-1,400hp.

There is hint of a joystick steering system and the exterior styling is certainly different to all currently available Jaguars. We do not have to wait much longer for all the details and look forward to seeing the new machine (and hopefully the maize header) in the flesh at Agritechnica. Here is a link to the Claas teaser:
