The factory of bankrupt Belgian sprayer manufacturer Delvano has been acquired by fellow Belgian company Depoortere.
Depoortere stepped forward when Delvano filed for bankruptcy earlier this month. However, the new owner has no plans to make sprayers. Instead, the factory provides extra space for further growth of Depoortere, which mainly builds flax and hemp harvesting and processing machines. To this end, some of Delvano’s 40+ staff will be retained at the Hulste plant.
Delvano had been struggling for some time. According to the receiver, the difficult situation in the agricultural sector played a major role, with disappointing harvests and uncertainty among farmers, resulting in the postponement of new sprayer orders.
Founded in 1966, Delvano had planned to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year.
