Spread-a-Bale’s first ever dual function machine heading to LAMMA has a new head which combines feeding forage and straw spreading.

Called the Combi-Bale, the system’s side mounted design is based on Spread-a-Bale’s HR straw spreading machine which features a head with one single horizontal rotor and the addition of newly designed bladed-edge tines.

A diverter valve and dual-speed motor have been introduced to control the rotor’s direction: in an anti-clockwise direction chopping and feeding out haylage or silage into the feed passage or fence, as well as loading into mixer wagons, while the clockwise rotation throws straw up to 15m.

Performance has been upgraded with new high-flow hydraulics enabling the machine to deliver 46% more power and 27% greater efficiency.

The Combi-Bale is compatible with both round and square bales and requires only one loader and operator with 70l/min oil flow. Once de-twined or unwrapped, one bale of forage or straw can be fed out or spread in less than one minute.

The Combi-Bale head is available with Mini, Midi, Midi XL, Maxi and Maxi XL body sizes, as well as a trailed chassis option available for the Midi size and upwards.
