The cross-ridge hiller, the latest hoe attachment tool from Einböck, is designed to reduce erosion in row-crops, such as maize and potatoes.

Said to be particularly useful on slopes, run-off water collects between the ridges, which are formed at a 90-degree angle to the crop rows.

Driven mechanically via a mid-mounted cage wheel, and mounting behind any type of hoeing element, it is used during the last pass with the hoe. Suitable for crops grown on row widths from 50cm to 80cm, the size of the ridges can be adjusted using cross shares of different widths.

Einböck product manager Philipp explains that the cross-ridge hiller is particularly suitable on land subject to erosion. “The cross ridges serve as a natural barrier to prevent erosion,” he said. “As a result, valuable water is retained for the crops and soil capping is reduced.”
