Built to tackle a wide range of jobs from tree planting and installing fence posts to constructing gates and foundations, the BTA 140 is Stihl’s first battery powered earth auger.
Offering increased performance over the existing BT 131 petrol earth auger, the newcomer is said to combine high performance with the lower noise, zero direct emissions and reduced maintenance of battery-powered technology.
The company recommends pairing it with the latest AP 300 P Allpro battery as well as the previous generation AP 300 S. Both enable up to 230 holes to be drilled on a single charge when using a 90mm auger in moderately compacted soil.
Compatible with the existing Stihl range of auger attachments, there are two drilling speeds. A reverse gear also enables the drill to be released should it become stuck in the ground.
If the drill encounters an obstruction, the QuickStop System automatically detects the resulting twisting force and immediately stops the machine. The automatic reset function allows work to resume simply by pressing the throttle.
The protective frame with recessed handle helps protect the power unit during transport and the BTA 140 is IPX4-rated for splash protection.
