Trading as Castle Agri, Kilkenny farmer Dermot Tobin has already imported 120 Möscha slurry swivel plate spreaders into Ireland from Germany and is now looking to introduce the concept to the UK. The swivel plate attachment replaces a tanker’s conventional splash plate, and the theory is that the swivel plate’s action and design produce a large droplet size as opposed to the splash plate’s mist. Among Mr Tobin’s claims are that this results in less odour, less contamination of the grass leaf, better slurry nutrient utilisation and a more even, wider spread. Price of the swivel-plate spreader attachment is about £700.
