Chinese tractor manufacturer Shandong Hanwo used Agritechnica to gauge visitor interest in the latest versions of the HWC Series from 128hp to 158hp.
On show was the 148hp 1504, the main update being the new suspended cab and interior layout. The Yuchai Stage III powered tractor is one of four models in the range. The others are the 1304 (128hp), 1404 (138hp) and 1604 (158hp). The gearbox in all four is a 16fx8r mechanical power shuttle.

The Chinese manufacturer plans to plant a Stage V block in the range and put it through the EU homologation process next year. Hanwo sales manager Gary Li sees Europe as an important growth market. “There is potential for us here,” he says. “Our tractors are built to a high standard and are competitively priced.”

In addition to setting up a dealer network in mainland Europe, the company is keen to appoint UK and Irish distributors to take on the new range, plus the company’s other tractors. “We spoke to a number of potential dealers at Agritechnica,” adds Mr Li.
Shandong Hanwo Agricultural Equipment makes around 10,000 tractors a year and reckons to be the seventh brand in the 200,000 units a year Chinese market.
The HWS Series (six Stage III models from 163hp to 256hp) are the largest tractors the company exports with Russia being the most important destination. The larger HWM Series is only available in China. The two ShangChai Stage IV powered models are the 3004 (296hp) and 335hp (3404).

The company has no immediate plans to bring any of these more powerful models to Europe. It was not at Agritechnica, but Hanwo has just released the E-CVT range in China. This spans 280-350hp.
