The removable packer frame for Grange Machinery’s 6.0m Low Disturbance Toolbar (LDT) is said to provide users with a truly universal and flexible machine.

Described as the last piece of the jigsaw, the machine can now be used as a toolbar in front of various trailed implements, on its own with no roller in wet conditions, and with the introduction of the removable packer frame, users have the option of using it as a 6.0m low disturbance subsoiler.

“This has been a demand that has significantly grown with our current customer base who have asked for a roller to be added that allows them to have a fully universal machine,” comments managing director Rhun Jones of Grange Machinery.

Three different types of packer rollers are currently available; the Grange toothed roller, shoulder press ring roller and the Otico tyre packer roller

Depth control for the roller is done using pins each side of the frame which allows the packer roller to be independent of the toolbar system. The loosening tines and discs on the LDT can be lifted/lowered without interfering with the packer setup.

Pulling out the two main pivot pins allows the packer frame to be removed (leaving all the bolt on bracketry assembled to the rear of the LDT) when it rests on its stands. The packer frame folds to below 2.5m wide for road transport and comes with a road lighting kit as standard.

Options include a seeder applicator bracketry, access platform with seed outlet tubes (single or twin) to establish OSR, cover crops, etc. “Most customers who have bought a 6.0m packer frame this year have established their OSR and their cover crops using this method,” adds Mr Jones.

Available as a factory fitted option on new machines, the packer frame can also be retro-fitted to all 6.0m models from the first 2017 built machines.

The company has packer frames ready for the 3.0m and 4.0m LDT. “Again this has been a popular question from current customers who want more flexibility with their machine. We will launch these early next year.”
