John Deere topped the UK tractor chart in 2024 with 3,304 units and a 28.1% share of the 11,761-strong market.

In second place was New Holland with 2,270 (19.3%) units, and third-placed Massey was the best performing AGCO brand with 1,295 tractors and an 11% share of the total market.

The other top 10 spots were secured by Case IH (1,138/9.7%), Fendt (859/7.3%), Kubota (715/6.1%), Claas (420/3.6%), Valtra (417/3.5%), SDF (220/1.9%) and JCB (212/1.8%).

The AEA figures confirm all brands registered less new tractors in 2024’s smaller UK market, the most notable being the 700+ fewer tractors registered by John Deere than in 2023. The exception was Same Deutz Fahr which registered 13 more tractors, boosting its market share from 1.6% in 2023 to 1.9% in 2024.

One other point of interest is Agri Argo (McCormick and Landini). The combined numbers from the two brands fell from 128 units in 2023 to 90 in 2024. The Italian manufacturer’s share of the total market also dropped from 1.0 to 0.8%.

There are several ways of interpreting the AEA figures. For example, if you look at the numbers from the three main players, then CNH (Case IH and New Holland) actually topped the rankings with 3,408 units and a 29% share of the total UK market.

John Deere is in second spot, and when Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra are added together, AGCO enjoyed third position in the rankings with 2,571 units and 21.9% of the market.

Footnote: The figures cover all power bands, including tractors under 50hp. Competition law restrictions mean that the AEA is not able to publish market share figures for tractors until 12 months have elapsed.
