Kuhn Farm Machinery’s new Apex trailed disc drill is aimed at operators requiring direct and min-till drilling versatility. The first two models offer working widths of 6.0m and 8.0m.
Spaced at 16.7cm or 20cm, the new Isoflex seeding units use a narrow angle single disc opener. Positioned alongside a large gauge wheel, the result is said to offer accurate depth control, holding debris in place to prevent it entering the seed furrow.

Set on a parallelogram linkage, with a 330mm range for consistent seed placement regardless of terrain, depth control is via a manual T lever on each unit. A high front clearance of 460mm allows cover crops to pass under the drill without the risk of blocking.
Coulter pressure is adjustable via ISObus up to a maximum of 250kg. Seed is delivered into the furrow via a seed boot, positioned alongside the opening disc, which is tapered to its base to prevent the furrow becoming wider. Seed is blown to the front of the boot, and a large diameter notched closing wheel maintains seed to soil contact at the rear of the units.
The pressurised 5,600-litre hopper is split into two 2,600-litre sections, with dual Optiseed metering units per side, leading to four distribution heads feeding two seeding lines. This allows half width shut-off as standard but also the option to place two products on alternate rows; two products mixed in to the same seeding lines, or one product on alternate rows for wider spacings. An additional 400-litre hopper with Optiseed can be integrated into the drill’s design.

Forward speeds of 12km/hr are said to be possible, and the Apex is controlled through ISObus operation from the tractor’s terminal or a CCI screen for versatility with other tractors. A side platform for hopper access improves filling safety and an integrated emptying system transfers unused seed from the hopper into a bag.
The new drill will be on display at EIMA next month where it has won a silver medal in the innovation awards. Interested UK users can expect to see the Apex for the first time at Cereals 2027 and there will be limited units available from first production.
