The simpler and more robust driveline is one of the main talking points of the new Tersus 4000 flail choppers.
A fixed driveline on the gearbox replaces a telescopic shaft previously used with side-shift on the out-going FRO versions. Other improvements include manual adjustment of the multi-vee belt drive; and the option of a rubber stone guard that sits behind the rear roller.
Retaining the same balanced rotor, flail tip speed and hood design from the out-going FRO series, the improvements introduced on the new Tersus 4023, 4028 and 4032, have been engineered to further boost durability. Working widths are 2.3m, 2.8m and 3.25m respectively, and all models include 500mm of hydraulic side-shift delivering 250mm either side of centre.
Suited to tractors from 80-170hp, all three models can be front- or rear-mounted without need for any conversion. The introduction of an optional, full-width rubber guard behind the rear roller is said to offer greater protection from flying stones and similar tough debris.
The Tersus can be equipped with conventional hammer flails, or universal Y-type flails. Prices start from around £12,000.
