With ‘road friendly’ suspension being a likely requirement to meet any new increase in allowable trailer weights on UK highways, Rolland is pushing its RollFast hydraulic suspension. It’s offered on all the French firm’s trailers from 14t to 24t. The passive hydraulic set-up is a closed circuit system. The trailer’s front axle lifts to save on tyre wear or add weight to the drawbar when needed — if, say, the towing tractor is struggling for grip in the field — while the rear axle locks out when tipping for extra stability. RollFast adds £11,000 to the price of a tri-axle trailer, £5,500 to a twin-axle.
