Though already shown in pre-production form at Cereals 2017, LAMMA provided the official launchpad for Claydon’s TerraBlade inter-row hoe. According to Jeff Claydon, recent Agrii trials showed a 98.5% reduction in blackgrass seed heads in a crop of wheat: down from a 900 heads/m2 weed-infested starting point (control); to 90 heads/m2 with a full chemical programme; to 13 heads/m2 with a chemical programme plus a single hoeing pass with the TerraBlade at GS31. Designed for use in the 14-15cm wide gaps between the Claydon drill’s 300mm wide seeding bands, a 6.0m front-mounted TerraBlade retails at £8,200.
