The Indian Mahindra Group is building a new factory in Nagpur to assemble both tractors and cars for domestic and key export markets.

Spread across 600ha, when up and running sometime 2028 it will be the Group’s largest integrated tractor and car manufacturing facility, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tractors and over 500,000 petrol, diesel, and electric vehicles.

Expected to play a key role in the Mahindra’s long-term growth strategy, the plant will be supplied with components from a new supplier park in Sambhajinagar. This 60ha site will also supply parts to Mahindra’s existing facilities at Chakan and Nashik.

Rajesh Jejurikar, executive director & CEO (auto and farm sector) of Mahindra & Mahindra says that the new plant represents a bold step forward in Mahindra’s manufacturing journey.

“Designed to support our next generation of vehicles and tractors, it brings together scale, flexibility and advanced technology within one integrated footprint,” he comments, “and strengthens our ability to deliver world-class products.”

The company is also acquiring land at its other Indian production sites to expand product and engine capacities and has earmarked around €1.4 billion over the next 10 years to further strengthen its manufacturing footprint.
