The MLT625e (2.5t to 5.9m) at Agritechnica is Manitou’s first electric telehandler for the agricultural sector.

The 35kWh lithium-ion battery powers two electric motors – a 40kW one for the driveline, and a 30kW unit for the hydraulics.

Sufficient for five hours of typical work (65% handling, 15% loading, 10% moving and 10% idling), the integrated 9kW charger takes three hours to recharge from 0–80% at 380v.

Eliminating hydraulics for the transmission and the integration of an anti-emulsion filter in the hydraulic oil tank has reduced hydraulic oil volumes by 30%.

Activated at the touch of a button on the dashboard, the boost mode propels the handler to its maximum speed of 20km/hr quickly and also provides faster boom and bucket movements.

With three steering modes, 4ws gives it a tight turning radius of just 3.31m and the electric model can work with the same attachments as the diesel MLT 625.

A driver presence sensor and an automatic parking brake are part of the standard spec and the MLT 625e has LED main beam and work lights, a phone holder and an adjustable steering column.

Manitou Group is looking to expand its electric machine ranges over the next five years. The goal is that 28% of all machines sold by the company in 2030 will be electric.
