Taking over from Massey Ferguson’s 4700 ‘Global’ range of tractors is the new three-model 4700M line up. The updated models come with a completely new Dyna-2 powershift transmission with speed matching.
All three are use a three-pot AGCO Power Stage V, 3.3-litre motor with SCR, DOC and a soot catalyst. The 4708M has 82hp, 4709M 92hp and the 4710M puts out 100hp. The 75hp model from previous generation is being dropped. The two smaller models are available with an open platform or like the biggest model with a cab.

The standard transmission is a 12-speed box while the 24 speed Dyna 2 box has a brake-to-stop function and can be specified with a mechanical or powershuttle. The ‘two-speed powershift’ is operated using a thumb-controlled button on the side of the gearstick, and below this is a declutch button. The gear splitter can also be operated from a rocker switch on the side console. Dyna 2 can achieve 40km/hr at 1,850rpm partly thanks to electronic fuel injection on the four-valve engine.
Other updates include adopting the styling from the other Massey models. All the new functions are shown on an improved dash including the status of the soot catalyst. New wheel rims are said to improve dependability and allow a wider range of tyres sizes to be fitted. An optional automatic battery isolator is available which cuts power from the battery when the tractor is switched off. Finally, on tractors with spools valves that have a flow divider you can add a free flow return.
