New tractor registrations increased by 0.7% in Italy to 18,579 last year. Sales of new combine harvesters and trailers decreased while the number of telehandlers registered increased by nearly 25%.

Today’s tractor volumes are significantly lower than the average of 30,000 units a year sold in Italy prior to the economic crisis in 2008, but FederUnacoma, the Italian manufacturers’ association, reports that it has at least stabilised (average of around 18,400 units a year from 2014 to 2019).

The news was less positive with the number of combine harvesters and trailers registered in Italy last year, combine sales falling -4.9% to 310 units and trailer sales down -2.2% to 8,946 units.

Telehandler popularity continues to increase on Italian farms. The 897 registrations in 2019 was up 23.5% on 2018 levels.
