Case IH appears to be preparing to launch a more powerful range of Optum tractors that peaks with a 440hp model.

Grainy prototype images of the new CNH tractors in both red and blue have been around for some time, but this is the first time we have seen such a clear picture of the newly styled models.

The details are under wraps, but the new range is even listed when browsing, although the link to the new 360-440hp range (existing Optums span 271 to 340hp) on the Case IH website has been removed.

The top model in the new Optum range is more powerful than the Magnum flagship. This suggests that Case IH is developing a universal 360-440hp range that shares some of its spec with the Magnum (exhaust system is similar, and our German colleagues suspect it uses the same 8.7-litre FPT Cursor engine), but then in a more compact package better suited to European road transport and field work.

Our tip is to expect the new Optums to officially break cover at Agritechnica, and we suspect that more details and pictures (a Steyr Terrus 6435 has also been spotted) will be released before the November show gets underway.
