B-Wrap is the name of a new John Deere netwrap for improved weather protection of hay and straw bales stored outdoors. Available as a kit-form option on 2016 versions of the company’s 800 and 900 Series variable chamber balers, two layers of composite material protect the bale from the elements and keeps ground moisture at bay. The company reckons the resulting increases in bale quality and storage flexibility fully compensate for the slightly higher material cost per bale. Operators can easily switch from conventional net-wrapping to baling with B-Wrap. Other John Deere bale wrapping updates for 2016 include the availability of a 50% stronger HD (high density) net for the 900 Series balers. Depending on bale diameter, the company claims this cuts baling time by up to 7.5% at no extra cost.
