T7 SHORT WHEELBASE

DynamicCommand is coming to the short wheelbase New Holland T7 which has been given a major overhaul as it moves to a new generation. Destined to get its public unveiling at Agritechnica in November, the max power outputs pretty much mirror the current model line up which will continue to be offered alongside with RangeCommand and PowerCommend transmissions.

The T7.175 morphs into the T7.180 while gaining a few extra ponied and is joined by the T7.190, T7210 and T7.225, New Holland continuing with using its boosted power output for the model numbering. One thing that has changed on the engines is that the max power output is now achieved at a lower 1,500rpm for better efficiency. Fuel and DEF tank capacities have been upped to 350- and 48-litres.

Initially, the new generation T7 will hit the market with an updated version of the AutoCommand stepless box. This now has the ability to be locked in the lower of its two ranges for heavy draft work and direct more of its power though the mechanical part of the transmission. Top speed has also increased to 55km/hr while power assisted brakes provide more stopping power.

Later next year, Dynamic and Range Command versions of the new T7 will enter production at Basildon. Just like the T6, the dual clutch DC box has 24 speeds and brake-to-clutch functionality. Even the T7.225 will get DynamicCommand (which up until now was only offered with a CVT), in fact it has already been put through a Powermix test where it achieved 243g/kWh.

Good news on comfort too, it now gets a dual accumulator setup for better dampening. The turning circle of the new front axle is 17% better than better, going from 14.3m down to 11.4m while the overall wheelbase is still 2,789mm. The max gross weight has been given a bump up to 13.5t which also means the payload has been increased to 5.5t.

In the cab, operators will spot a big difference as the PLMI interior migrates from the bigger T7 models, albeit not all of it. The armrest can be a slightly slimmer SideWinder with the IntelliView 12 screen and redesigned paddles for the electric remotes. But those who enjoy pulling levers fear not, mechanical remotes are still being offered – even on AutoCommand tractors.

The dash gains the slicker display with an encoder on the SideWinder armrest. Indeed, the cab furniture is made from better materials while the climate control is improved, along with more storage. There will be three roof options, various lighting packages and two types of cab suspension – mechanical and hydraulic.

There has been a tidy up around the back end to make hydraulic, pneumatic and electric connections easier. A new independent pick-up hitch is being added to.
