The Kverneland Group has confirmed that production of the iconic Vicon pendulum fertiliser spreader will finish for good at the end of this month.

The decision to pull the pin after 67 years at the Dutch facility in Nieuw-Vennep was taken following a thorough evaluation of the investments needed to the plant and product range to meet future requirements.

Modern environmental and safety standards require significant changes in the production process, and the non-recyclable polyester hopper needs to be replaced by recyclable polyethylene (PE).

Also, a major investment is required to bring the 47-year-old assembly line up to date, and the company says it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the specialised skills needed for production.

Introduced in 1957, at its peak the Dutch facility made in excess of 1,000 units a week and more than one million units have been sold globally.

If you want to get your hands on one of the last of the classic Vicon models then you’ll have to be quick because they can no longer be ordered after August 31, 2025. This includes models produced in Kubota orange.
