Spread-a-Bale extended its M range of straw spreading machines at the Royal Highland Show where it launched the Mega.

Designed to handle the biggest and most challenging bales, complete with Hardox wear plates to the front floor section and 1.3m high rotors, the Mega has the capacity to spread all bales – round up to 1.8m diameter.

The spec also includes the XL body option giving it additional 300mm bed length to accommodate rectangular bales up to 2.8m in length. The Mega’s 2VR (two vertical rotors) head delivers an arc spread pattern up to 9.0m.

Requiring a handler with a minimum lift capacity of 3.0t, the Mega is able to load one bale in approximately one minute followed by a further minute to discharge and spread.

Standard features include a double acting two-way spool and no low-pressure return line with a set of others including heavy duty motors to handle high density and compacted bales. The high flow hydraulic manifold together with 3/4inch pipes is said to offer increased performance and efficiency.

Spread-a-Bale’s Michael Hughes says the will appeal to larger farms looking to fully utilise their largest bales. “Furthermore, we’ve added the HD, HF and bigger hoses to this one to provide unmatched power enabling it to spread the hardest, compacted bales,” he adds.

Options include side frame, Feed-a-Bale canopy and galvanised construction.
