A 2020 John Deere 7R330 with just 928 hours on its clock commanded the highest price received for a modern tractor at a Cheffins auction last year. It sold for £183,000. The highest price paid for a classic tractor was £210,112 for a 1983 ‘short nose’ County 1474.

John Deere accounted for eight of the top 10 prices paid for a modern tractor at one the Cambridgeshire auctioneers monthly or farm dispersal sales last year.

In second place, a 2021 (854 hours) 6215R sold for £117,500, and the third highest figure was paid for a 2020 (2,358 hours) 6250R, which sold for £117,500.

Classic results

A number of classic tractor records were set throughout 2021, with key sales including the Shrubbs Farm collection which grossed over £1m. The £210,112 paid for a 1983 County 1474 was the highest price ever paid for a classic tractor at a Cheffins auction or farm dispersal sale.

Bought by a UK-based collector, this rare example had seen two owners from new and had only 100 hours on the clock. One of the tractors auctioned as part of the Shrubbs farm collection in Essex, last July, the hammer on another of them, a 1989 Ford 7810 Silver Jubilee, came down at £45,024, making it the second highest price paid for a classic tractor last year.

In third spot was a 1979 County 1174 (£40,736) and the best-selling John Deere classic was a 1993 4755 (£40,500).
