John Deere retained pole position of the UK tractor market in 2023 accounting for 4,040 of the total 13,343 tractors registered. This was good for a 30.3% share of the market (30.4% in 2022).
Figures compiled by the AEA show that CNH (Case IH and New Holland) held onto second spot in 2023 with 3,680 units and a 27.6% share of the market (3,390/26% in 2022).

The numbers were down slightly at Case IH from 1,268 units in 2022 and a 9.7% share of the total market to 1,199 and 9.0% in 2023. More New Holland tractors were registered though; 2,481 (2,122 in 2022), and the brand’s share of the total UK tractor market was up from 16.3% to 18.6%.
2023 was a stable year for third placed AGCO (Fendt, Massey Ferguson and Valtra) with 2,934 units and a market share around the 22% mark. Massey headed the AGCO stable with 1,404 registrations and a 10.5% share of the total UK market (1,379/10.6% in 2022).
Fendt also registered more tractors, up from 845 in 2022 to 958 in 2023, increasing its share of the UK market from 6.5% in 2022 to 7.2% in 2023. With registrations down from 671 (5.2%) in 2022 to 572 (4.3%) in 2023, Valtra lost a bit of ground.
The best of the rest was Kubota (836/6.3%) although these figures were down on the 956 units and 7.3% share in 2022. 2023 was another consistent year for Claas which was good for 473 units and a 3.5% share of the market (470/3.6% in 2022). Claas narrowed the gap between it and fourth placed Kubota from 486 units in 2022 to 363 in 2023.
2023 was also a consistent year for JCB, while SDF registrations were up from 176 (1.4%) in 2022 to 207 (1.6%) in 2023. Agri Argo (McCormick and Landini) maintained its 1.0% share of the total UK tractor market.
