Devon based TracTek Engineering now offers a trailed version of its Scarrow for use with quad bikes, ATV’s, small tractors and 4×4’s.
Joining the existing tractor mounted models, the concept of combining scarifying tines and a chain harrow is claimed to be more effective than a tined harrow at removing thatch, spreading dung and mole hills and preparing ground for overseeding.
This is further amplified by the harrowMAX adjustable weight transfer system which allows much of the frame weight and a proportion of the pulling force to be transferred onto the tines and harrow teeth. The amount of downforce is controlled via a sliding adjustment.

A spring assisted mechanical lift system allows for a low effort transition from transport to work positions. In transport mode the Scarrow rides on heavy duty wheels and tyres.
Options include an updated version of the electric driven seed spreader used on the tractor mounted model. Suitable for overseeding grassland, and repairing poached or damaged areas, the spreader incorporates a single switch operation of both the spinning disc and the electrically actuated seed cut-off slide. Spinner speed and seed rate are adjusted on the machine and a digital read out shows the disc speed. The spreader attaches to the frame with a single quick release pin and can be removed when not needed.
The steel frame is fully galvanised and the trailed Scarrow SCT range is available in operating widths of 1.2m and 1.6m. Work rates are around 1.5ha/hr and prices start from £1,225. The Seed spreader kit costs £350.
