9,702 new 50hp+ tractors were registered in the UK in the first nine months of this year, reports the AEA. This is a 4.4% increase (just over 400 tractors) on the same January-September in 2022.

We covered the numbers for the first half of this year in July (link at bottom of this story). There were ups and downs in the number of tractors registered in the third quarter of this year.

For example, the number of new tractors logged with the DVLA rose by nearly 13% in July to 1,097 units when compared to the same month (973 units) in 2022, reports the AEA.

After dipping below last year’s level in August (714 units down 14% on the same month in 2022), the numbers were once again higher in September than in the corresponding month last year.

At 1,114 units, the monthly total was 4.0% higher than the 1,070 tractors recorded in September 2022 and 6.0% above the seasonal average. Despite the August dip, registrations across the third quarter (July-September) of this year (2,925) were still higher than the 2,877 units in the same three months last year, albeit by just 1.7% (48 tractors).
