Zetor continues to take its tractors to new markets, the latest being a partnership with Vietnamese company Goldmax, which will take care of sales, spare parts and service for new Major, Proxima, Forterra and Crystal tractors.

Major crops in Vietnam include rice, coffee, cotton, rubber and sugar cane, and each year over 3,000 mainly 80-100hp tractors are sold in the country. The first Zetor tractors are expected to arrive later this month. Initially, the Czech tractor maker expects to export several dozen units to the country but hopes to increase the numbers in the future.

Zetor’s long-term strategy is to strengthen its position in Western Europe and North America, but the company is also keen to enter new markets, such as South America, East Africa, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

This is not the first time Zetor has been active in Vietnam, and the company reckons to have exported around 2,000 tractors to the country from 1960 to 1980. Most were used in paddy fields.
